The Pretty Girls Sit in the Back Seat
by Sabrina Dawkins
The pretty girls sit in the back seat.
That’s why they’re such great actresses.
Their leprous skin looks artificial
and not suited for sunny environments.
You see through their eyes,
blue, green, grey, and light brown,
as if underneath there is emptiness,
as if God didn’t make them.
They’re so pretty,
they look artificial,
like stationary models
in a store window.
Strike a pose,
beautiful Siren.
But if you’re artificial
and God didn’t make you,
then who drives you?
