Snuff Music – Witness the Destruction of a Soul
by Sabrina Dawkins
“I just want to tell my story”
(for money),
says the criminal
who can make music.
Dead homies
shouted out in lyrics
who no one has heard of
except the artist
who brings us into hell
to witness
cold streets, cop sirens,
drug deals, gun violence.
No answers.
But let them tell their story.
Verses about killing enemies,
women as scenery,
clubbing, drinking,
all in a day in the life of
hip hop royalty.
But let them tell their story.
Lucifer gets a song
by Jay-Z.
Blatantly anti-God.
But he grew up on the mean streets,
so let him tell his story
over and over
like a wind-up toy
except to wind it up
you insert money.
Same story, shuffled lyrics,
a now millionaire
bringing us back to his teen years
because that is where he died.
And his music is an endless snuff film
as we watch Satan remove
more of his humanity
with every album.
