The Unwitting Zombie

The Unwitting Zombie
by Sabrina Dawkins

If I were a demon,
the human body
a cozy house,
I would promote
media and chemicals
to loosen the locks,
open the door,
and kick the occupant out.
Artificial foods,
heroin, crack,
marijuana, alcohol,
cigarettes,
all to help me get in quicker.
We made a bet
down in Georgia.
I dealt the cards,
provided the alcohol,
candy, and powder.
And you walked out,
left the cards on the table,
walked past the bar
and out the door.
Then I walked in at night
and drove you with the pigs
into the water.
